ERC grant for TRANSFORM

Shadi Sharif Azadeh has been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant for TRANSFORM, a five-year research project at TU Delft. The project connects everyday transport operations with long-term decisions about multimodal mobility networks.

An adaptive mobility network

Transport systems face changing technologies, new mobility services and uncertain conditions. A cancelled train affects today’s journeys; changing travel habits and extreme weather can reshape the investment decisions made for years ahead.

TRANSFORM brings prediction and optimization together in a closed loop. Rather than relying on a single forecast, the framework updates information about resource availability and traveler behavior as conditions change. Operational experience can then inform future planning.

Research at TU Delft

Hosted in the Department of Transport & Planning, the project is led by Associate Professor Shadi Sharif Azadeh, Director of the Sustainable Urban Multimodal Mobility Lab. Its research addresses uncertainty, behavioral aspects, asset management and simulation through TRANSSim.
